As I mentioned, I encountered the same problem. All in all, I don’t see how you can go wrong for less than 150.00 dollars. As with any product there are some negative reviews, many of which point to skipping discs. For those that want these features it is nice they are there. The Onkyo DXC390 also, offers an optical/digital port to connect the CD changer. The Onkyo has a number of programmable features I have not even used. I finally ordered the coaxial cable (not included), which is not much more money. You can get one of these for less than four dollars. I noticed an improvement when I used a Monoprice RCA/Phono audio cable I had on hand. The player comes with this cable, although it is a pretty spindly cable. Otherwise, simply use an RCA/ Phono audio connecting cable to make the connection.

CD’s do need to be in pretty good shape to avoid skipping.Unfortunately, the CD format is not as fool proof as we were told, when it originally came on the market. Particularly, since cleaning the questionable CD’s has corrected the problem. To be fair, the Onkyo, also, seems to skip, if the CD is not in the best shape, although I do not fault the Onkyo for this.

Our old Pioneer CD changer was always skipping, no matter which CD we chose to play. We purchased the Onkyo DXC390 CD changer to play CD’s we purchased, mostly, during those years, when everyone said vinyl was a bygone format.
